8. Create Your Own Dinosaur Tracks
Questacon on Tour > Touring Exhibitions > Terrorsaurus > In-school Activities > 8. Create Your Own Dinosaur Tracks
Create your own prehistoric footprint model.
Encourage a friend to retell your story.
You will need:
- enough plasticine/clay to make a 10 cm x 20 cm track about 1 cm thick
- casts of some dinosaur footprints (see activity 4)
- a rolling pin
Part 1 Creating the scene
- Knead the plasticine/clay until it is soft.
- Use a rolling pin to make a track 10 cm wide, 20 cm long and approximately 1 cm thick.
- Use the casts of dinosaur footprints to create a scene for another group to interpret.
Part 2 Interpreting the evidence
Let the other group interpret the scene and report back. It is important for them to give reasons why they interpreted the scene as they did.
Notes for teachers
Use the information from Activities 4 and 5.
