North America

  • large duckill-shaped snout probably made sounds or improved their sense of smell
  • similar growth patterns to modern birds
  • seemed to nurse their eggs and young
  • name has -a rather than -us on the end to represent “mothering” behaviour
  • nested in colonies, travelled in herds for protection
  • young mostly walked on two legs, adults mostly moved on four legs
